6th Grade Band Rental Night is Coming Soon!

Dear Future 6th Grade Band Parents,

Hello! We are excited about your children being part of the opportunities at O.J. Middle School. One of these opportunities is entering the Ludington Band Program. If your child is interested in being in the band or think they may want to try band, please schedule them into band now. We do have some flexibility in the schedule, but it is much easier to schedule the now. At this point we have 53 pre-enrolled students. Now is the time to get on this list! We only start band students in their sixth grade year.

MONDAY-THURSDAY 25th-28th Students will be pulled out of their 2nd or 5th hour exploratory which has been prearranged with their teachers. We will be testing students to see what instrument may be the “best” for your child. Your son/daughter will bring home a sheet with our instrument recommendation. We will also figure out at this time who will want to rent and who may have instruments already.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 28th from 4-6:30pm-RENTAL NIGHT, parents will be asked to come to the band room any time between 4 and 6:30pm to sign an instrument rental contract with NEMC. Instrumental Music on James Street will facilitate this meeting and answer any questions you may have about the rental company or fees. Please bring fees with you to this meeting as you will have to pay to secure an instrument for your child. We will show the kids how to properly care for and assemble the instrument on the first day. Please do not let your son/daughter take the instrument out and attempt to put them together. This may cause damage and more of a headache for parents.

Do not purchase an instrument on your own! The Ludington Band program starts students on specific instrument models. If you have an instrument at home, please bring it in so we can see what kind of shape it is in. NO STUDENT WILL BE DENIED BAND PARTICIPATION DUE TO FINANCES. If you are not able to rent an instrument, please come to the rental meeting anyway to meet with Mr. Malt or Mrs. Brown.
