CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE PARTICIPANTS

Congratulations to all Solo and Ensemble participants. Our clinicians were extremely impressed with the level of talent that Ludington had perform!! Fun was had by all and the food was great afterwards! Look in the Daily News the next couple of days as Jeff Kissel will be doing a follow up article on this very successful event.

Dear 7th and 8th grade band parents,

This Saturday, January 14th at the Ludington Center for the Arts, the Ludington Band program will be hosting its’ first Solo and Ensemble Festival exclusive to Ludington band students. This Saturday will be one of two Solo and Ensemble events with the High School happening in March.
Here is how the evening is set up. We have two guest clinicians coming from Graying and East Lansing. Mathew Bishop out of Grayling, Director of Bands and Melanie Steihl, Director of Bands at Williamston Public Schools. The students who have signed up and have been working on a piece will have rehearsals this week with Becky Sopha our accompanist for this event. All participants will be asked to report to the Arts Center on Harrison Street (old United Methodist Church) at 5:00pm for a quick run down on staging and entrances. The concert starts at 6:00pm and will last until about 7:15. After the participants play, they will all go on stage for an informal clinic with our two judges to discuss topics that will enhance their performances in the future. Each participant will get two digital recordings from their judges to take home and their score sheets. The students will get TWO score sheets, one from each judge. After the concert there will be a small reception afterwards in the gallery area.
As for the other members of the 7th and 8th grade band, I am asking all band students to attend this event. Not only will this provide a comfortable audience for our performers, but also let the other students see what this all about in hopes that they will try this next year. I am asking all students to bring a small baked good for the reception after the concert. If your son or daughter cannot make this concert due to a mitigating circumstance, please e mail us at ludingtonbands@yahoo.com, otherwise, please make sure that all band members are at the Center a little before six so we can start on time. All 7th and 8th grade band parents are invited and encouraged to join us for this brief event! Again, any questions, feel free to call Mr. Malt at 231-499-7693. See you Saturday!

Mr. Malt
