The Ludington High School Jazz Ensemble is a group of 18 students, who make up a “traditional” big band. This group of students is selected upon director recommendation. The jazz band meets during zero hour starting at 6:40am with evening rehearsals mixed in. This group of students dive deep in to the history and tradition of jazz and its' roots. Students are asked to do independent projects, transcription and public performances. Students enrolled in this class become involved with many competitions and festivals. Students have the opportunity to take private lessons with professional jazz musicians from Michigan and attend numerous clinics across the state. Membership of the LHS Jazz Ensemble takes dedication, upholding tradition and a huge work ethic! The results equal success!
